Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic are interested in Valentin Barco, but the Hoops are facing competition from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United among other clubs.
According to 90min, Celtic, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester City all are interested in signing Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors.
Celtic and Chelsea linked with Valentin Barco
The report has claimed that Brighton and Hove Albion have already held talks with the representatives of Barco.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest are keen on the 19-year-old Argentine, who is playing mainly as a left-back at the moment but is able to operate across the pitch.
Brentford, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, Porto, AS Roma, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco are also keen on the 19-year-old.
90min has reported that Barco has a release clause of £8 million in his contract which Boca are trying to increase or even remove by handing him a new deal.
Celtic could struggle to sign Valentin Barco
In our view, Celtic could struggle to sign Valentin Barco given the clubs who are interested in him.
The likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are major powers.
It is hard to see Celtic convince the 19-year-old to move to Celtic Park and play in the UEFA Champions League when he could join a top Premier League or Ligue 1 club and compete for league titles and the UEFA Champions League.
