Al Ittihad summer signing Jota could look to terminate his contract amid links with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Jota is plotting how to leave Al Ittihad just months after leaving Celtic for a move to Saudi Arabia.
That is according to reporter Rudy Galetti, who claims that Jota is weighing up a move away from Al Ittihad.
Jota was part of the Saudi Arabian spending spree over the summer as Al Ittihad coughed up £25million to sign him from Celtic.
The move has quickly turned sour though with Jota early featuring under Nuno Espirito Santo, and a rapid move away from the Middle East has been rumoured.
Jota seeking route out of Al Ittihad
Galetti now reports that Al Ittihad will be leaving Jota out of their squad list until the winter transfer window.
This is a truly unbelievable turn of events and Jota is left searching for an answer.
Transfer windows around Europe have closed now and Jota seems stranded for now.
It’s stated that Jota is considering whether to try and push to change Nuno’s mind or try to terminate his contract.
Becoming a free agent wouldn’t help in terms of playing games; he would have to wait until January to be registered with a new club.
Still, maybe training and preparing with a new club is better for Jota though with his time in Saudi Arabia becoming a nightmare.
Tottenham may look into Jota move
You have to imagine that a number of clubs would be interested in signing Jota if he becomes a free agent – and Tottenham may just be one of them.
90Min reported in late August that Tottenham were informed of Jota’s availability, opening the door for a loan move to North London with a late switch being considered.
The idea was for Jota to reunite with his former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham; the Australian loved Jota at Celtic, calling him a ‘special player’ during their stint together.
Tottenham signed a different winger in Brennan Johnson but have just learned that Ivan Perisic looks set to miss the rest of the season through injury.
That could open the door for Jota to come in, with Postecoglou no doubt monitoring the situation very closely.
