Ange Postecoglou may miss out on signing Red Bull Salzburg’s Oscar Gloukh again having first targeted him for a move to Celtic in 2022.
Oscar Gloukh has been scouted by Arsenal with Tottenham Hotspur in danger of missing out on the Red Bull Salzburg talent.
Reports from The Sun suggest that Arsenal sent scouts to watch Gloukh in action for Israel during the international break.
Hailed as ‘special’ by former Israel international Gil Vermouth, Gloukh seized his chance to shine, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Romania before then playing the full 90 minutes against Belarus.
The 19-year-old has started this season in good form, bagging three assists and one goal in just eight games.
Red Bull Salzburg could cash in on Gloukh down the line with Arsenal now seemingly eyeing him up.
Tottenham Hotspur also eyeing Oscar Gloukh
Arsenal may face competition for Gloukh though with The Sun reporting that Manchester United also scouted him last week.
There is also lingering interest from Tottenham Hotspur, with Arsenal’s bitter rivals holding an interest in the summer.
The Guardian claimed in July that Spurs are interested in signing Gloukh with the idea of teaming him up with Israel international teammate Manor Solomon.
That may well appeal to Gloukh but boss Ange Postecoglou may fear missing out on the playmaker for a second time.
Postecoglou wanted Gloukh at Celtic
The Daily Record reported in September 2022 that Postecoglou had a real interested in signing Gloukh.
It was suggested that Gloukh featured prominently on a list of Celtic targets for the January transfer window with Postecoglou driving the interest.
Gloukh was still with Maccabi Tel Aviv at that point, and Celtic ended up missing out to Red Bull Salzburg when the transfer window opened.
Postecoglou unsurprisingly still likes Gloukh and still believes that he is an ideal fit for his attack-minded approach.
News of Arsenal scouting Gloukh may well spring Tottenham into life, with Postecoglou no doubt fearing missing out on him for a second time.
