FORMER Celtic flop Youssouf Mulumbu has put an end to suggestions he had retired from football by joining French third-tier strugglers US Orleans.
The DR Congo midfielder made just three Hoops appearances following his 2018 arrival from Kilmarnock.
Mulumbu previously had six English Premier League seasons with West Brom, plus a further campaign with Norwich.
He had three spells with Killie either side of his brief Celtic stay before returning to his African home country in 2021.
The 36-year-old played for top club Saint Eloi Lupopo, and had a spell coaching FC Tanganyika.
Former Paris Saint-Germain ace Mulumbu has now returned to France to pen a one-year deal with Orleans.
The city south of Paris is more famous for Joan of Arc and its university than its football.
Nicknamed the Wasps, US Orleans have lacked sting this season and lie one place off the foot of the third-tier National league.
They announced: “Youssouf Mulumbu, 36, has joined US Orleans for the 2023-24 season.
“Born in Kinshasa, he is a former DR Congo international who came through Paris Saint-Germain‘s academy.
“Our new midfielder also signed his first professional contract with PSG.
“He then went on to play for West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City, Kilmarnock and Celtic.
“Our new Yellow-and-Red will add the weight of his experience to our squad. He has signed a contract with the Wasps for the rest of this season.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the best in his new colours.”
